Evidence, not trends. Every recommendation traces to peer-reviewed research. If the data doesn’t support it, it’s not in your plan — regardless of how popular it is.
Honesty, not reassurance. You deserve to know where you stand. That means clear communication about what your data shows, what it means, and what it doesn’t mean. No false promises. No guarantees. No hype.
Your brain, not a protocol. This is not a one-size-fits-all program. Your risk factors, your genetics, your history, your goals — they shape every aspect of your plan. That’s why this is physician-led, not coach-led.
OptimizeCognition is a physician-led brain health practice bringing a level of rigor and evidence rarely found
outside of a research setting to adults who want to be proactive about their cognitive future.
Founded by a board-certified neurologist with fellowship training in neuroimaging.
Led by neurologist Atif Hashmi, MD, the program brings together advanced cognitive and neurological assessment, expert interpretation, and ongoing lifestyle guidance to support long-term brain health.

Start with a level of brain health assessment rarely available outside of a research setting, translated into a personalized, evidence-based plan you follow with a dedicated neurologist guiding every step.

The first large-scale randomized controlled trial of multi-domain lifestyle intervention. Published in The Lancet, it demonstrated that simultaneously addressing multiple risk factors led to significant cognitive benefits compared to standard health advice.

Across three reports, the Lancet Commission on Dementia Prevention has identified 14 modifiable risk factors that account for up to 45% of dementia cases worldwide.

Published in JAMA, the U.S. POINTER trial confirmed these findings in a diverse American population. Both lifestyle interventions improved cognition, with the structured program showing greater benefit.

The landmark trials proved that modifiable risk factors can be addressed. This program goes further. Your brain health is not estimated. It is measured. And it is tracked over time.
Not a pamphlet. Not a webinar. A physician who knows your data, your history, and your goals, and works with you to address the modifiable factors in your profile.
You had a brain or spine MRI. The radiologist’s report used language you didn’t fully understand. Your doctor may have said “it’s probably nothing” — but you’re still not sure what you’re looking at, or what it means for you.
This Program Is For:
Those who have received MRI results that were confusing, concerning, or inadequately explained.
Those who want a second opinion from a neurologist who specializes in brain imaging.
Those who have had a screening MRI and want an expert to interpret the brain findings.
Your doctor told you the results were “normal” but you have specific concerns you want addressed.
Those who have had a a screening MRI — such as Prenuvo — and want an expert to interpret the brain findingsYou have white matter changes, a cyst, or an incidental finding and want to understand what it means.
Most people don’t think about cognitive decline until symptoms appear. By then, the opportunity to address modifiable risk factors at their fullest potential is behind them. If you’re cognitively healthy and want to be proactive about staying that way, this practice was built for you.
This is a solo physician practice. To maintain the depth of attention each patient deserves, enrollment is limited.
Dr. Hashmi is a board-certified neurologist with fellowship training in neuroimaging and years of clinical experience as a neurohospitalist. This combination — advanced brain imaging expertise and frontline neurological care — provides a perspective on brain health that few physicians in the country can offer.
Every assessment, every report, and every consultation in this practice is conducted personally by Dr. Hashmi. There are no physician extenders, no AI-generated reports, and no handoffs. When you work with this practice, you get a neurologist — not a team that includes one.
